QC’s M3 GMC looks to be a standard M3 with a minimum of modification. The tires and tread assemblies are separate pieces (a nice touch). The detail is ok, but lacks ‘crispness’ and has a 'soft' appearance.
The gun itself is nice, it attached to the hull of the GMC with a cast rod, which sticks up ¾ of an inch from the bed of the rear compartment to the underside of the gun. When I assembled mine, I removed this rod and replaced it with brass rod for strength. In real life, the GMC’s gun was mounted directly on a squat box that held a supply of ready ammunition. QC’s arrangement of the gun mounting looks odd, even to someone without knowledge of the GMC’s internal arrangement. The gun shield is designed so it glues to the hull of the GMC, instead of the gun (in reality the gun shield could pivot slightly with the gun). I suppose you could glue it to the gun, but it doesn't fit that way.
I also drilled out the front axle mounts and fit a brass rod in their place. The originals were very weak.
I noticed a curious thing about the roller on the front of the QC’s GMC. Non-winch equipped half-tracks were equipped with a roller assembly at the front end. The purpose of the roller was to prevent the vehicle from 'digging in' when traversing ditches or other similar obstacles. On QC’s model the roller is wrapped with cable, yet it is clearly the bumper mount for the roller assembly. Easily fixed, but odd…
Those issues aside with a little correction and some scratch building QC’s GMC would look good on any miniature battlefield.
